MUSHROOMS EXPERT / RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION
ABOUT ME
My name is Allen Kiiza, and within the foundation I am responsible for the recruitment and selection of candidates for the two-year coaching programme. To be eligible, it is important that the entrepreneur can start with limited start-up capital and is willing to build the business step by step from the ground up.
For candidates who start in mushroom cultivation, I am also the first point of contact for technical advice
I work with the Mushroom Training and Resource Centre (MTRC) as Head of Research and Development and am a Ugandan researcher and consultant with over 15 years of extensive work and consultancy experience. My career started in livestock and horticultural value chains. My professional practice has been centered on skills training, conducting applied research, and offering advisory services in interdisciplinary fields covering areas of sustainable agriculture and livestock development. I work with educational institutions, development-centered agencies, and the private sector, mainly focusing on inclusive smallholder agricultural production. In addition, I currently also work with the Africa Institute for Strategic Services and Development (AFRISA) as an adjunct tutor.Martin Oyevaar Senior lecturer of business development Coordinator Foundation / Tutor
New text
Within the foundation, I work as a coordinator and coach. I guide young people in setting up businesses that contribute to employment and poverty reduction. Since my retirement, I have been able to dedicate more time and energy to this work, which I do with great enthusiasm.
The aspiring entrepreneur is at the center of the process. Their circumstances, ambitions, and ideas form the starting point, alongside the desired social and environmental impact. Together, we explore which product or service is the best fit, what the market opportunities are, and what experience and strengths they bring.
During the coaching process, we identify and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of different ideas. This enables a well-informed and realistic choice of business concept.
From there, we move forward step by step, focusing on the technical and financial feasibility of the plan.
